Report

We met in the guild hall and set out for the Valley of the Three Rainbows on foot. Rodrick left his armour behind so as not to slow the journey. We descended to the bog on the north side of the lake and found a sunken row boat, fashioned some oars, and rowed straight south between the lakes two island and docked at the dry, patchy garden on the north side of Castel Xyntillan. We kept our distance from a trio of monstrous goat-chickens, and Nilfiz discovered a silver greatsword under a patch of dry, blackened weeds. The sword possessed Nilfiz and drove him to draw blood from Rodrick before returning his consciousness. We returned to Renth, inquired about the blade, and returned to the castle on the following day.

On the second day, we rowed the boat down the canal, around the south side, and cast a grappling hook up to the second storey. First we tried the library, but it was occupied by shadowy figures that grasped at Rodrick as he retreated from the sill. Further east, we climbed up to the feasting hall and gained access to the knight’s hall. There we encountered Girolamo, a bureaucratic Gauxian man that had wine with Rodrick before brandishing his battle-axe. At that moment, Nilfiz hypnotised the would-be axe murdered into writing them a sealed writ of passage, after which the confused, apologetic noble took his leave.

Rodrick made the attempt of wresting a beautiful sword from the hands of a battered suit of armour, but the armour animated and chased Rodrick between rooms, dropping him in a swift stab from the blade. Nilfiz retrieved Rodrick, stabilized him, and lowered him out of the castle and rowed them across the lake, where the monks of the Silver Shroud Monastery helped nurse Rodrick back to consciousness before their final return to Renth.
